20 mile Dinnington Round Walk

Take on the 20-mile Dinnington Round Walk and raise money for a charity or cause close to your heart, while enjoying some of the best countryside around Dinnington and the surrounding villages.

 

This fully supported circular walk is open to walkers of all abilities who are ready for a rewarding challenge. Whether you’re walking solo, with friends, or as part of a group, every step helps make a difference.

Event Details
  • Distance: 20 miles (circular route)

  • Start Time: Flexible start between 8:00am – 10:00am

  • Finish Cut-Off: 5:00pm

  • Estimated Completion Time: 6–7 hours

  • Entry Fee: £5 per person

 

Your entry includes:
  • A detailed online walk guide

  • Two check-in stations along the route

  • A snack at each check-in (drink plus an energy bar or chocolate)

  • An online certificate on completion

​The Route

Starting and finishing at Dinnington Resource Centre, the route takes in a wide variety of scenic locations:

 

Dinnington Resource Centre → The Triangle → Greenlands → The Wells → Anston Stones → Woodsetts → Wallingwells → Letwell → Langold → Firbeck → Roche Abbey → Laughton → Mineral Trail → Dinnington Pit Top → Anston → back to Dinnington Resource Centre.

 

All walkers will receive a detailed route guide to support them throughout the day.

​Sponsored Walk – Recommended Equipment List

 

To help ensure everyone enjoys the sponsored walk safely and comfortably, please see the recommended equipment list below. Participants should be prepared for varying weather conditions and the distance involved.

 

Personal Walking Essentials

    •    Comfortable walking shoes or trainers (well worn-in)

    •    Cushioned or moisture-wicking socks to help prevent blisters

    •    Weather-appropriate clothing, including:

    •    Lightweight, breathable layers

    •    Waterproof jacket

    •    Hat or cap and sun protection (if required)

    •    Small backpack or waist pack for carrying personal items

 

Food and Hydration

    •    Reusable water bottle

    •    Energy snacks such as cereal bars, fruit, or flapjacks

    •    Packed lunch for longer walks

 

Safety and Comfort Items

    •    Basic first aid supplies (plasters, blister pads, etc.)

    •    Mobile phone (fully charged)

    •    Portable charger or power bank (recommended for longer routes)

    •    Sun cream and/or insect repellent, depending on conditions

 

Additional Useful Items

    •    Walking poles for longer or hilly routes

    •    Camera or phone for photographs

    •    Waterproof bag or bin liner for wet clothing

 

Participants are advised to dress appropriately for the weather and ensure they are comfortable with the distance before taking part.
