Dinnington Town slipped to a surprising 3-2 defeat at the Blackout13.com Arena on Saturday afternoon, despite a spirited performance from an under-strength side.
The visitors, RHP Sports & Social, struck early, taking the lead inside the opening minute when Soloman Miller converted from the penalty spot to make it 1-0 in the first minute. Their advantage was doubled in the 15th minute as Clownes Steele found the net, putting Dinnington Town under pressure at 2-0 down.
Brad Kerr gave the hosts hope midway through the half, pulling a goal back in the 26th minute to reduce the deficit to 2-1. However, RHP Sports & Social responded quickly, restoring their two-goal cushion just five minutes later when Kieran Job struck to make it 3-1 at half-time.
After the interval, Dinnington Town looked to fight their way back into the contest and were rewarded in the 63rd minute as Michael Golland scored to narrow the gap to 3-2.
The home side pushed forward in search of an equaliser and were handed a golden chance in the final minute when Brad Kerr stepped up from the penalty spot, but his effort was saved by the RHP Sports & Social goalkeeper to deny Dinnington Town a dramatic draw.
By the final whistle, it finished 3-2, with Dinnington Town left to reflect on a disappointing result in front of their home supporters.
Next up, Dinnington Town are back at home on Saturday 6th September as they host SJR Worskop. Kick-off is at 3:00pm. Photo Credit - Marcus Ackroyd Photography
