
Dinnington Town maintained their title charge in emphatic fashion with a commanding 8-3 victory over Rossington Main Reserves at home.
A relentless attacking display saw them brush aside their opponents, further solidifying their dominance at the top of the table.
However, the hosts were given an early scare as Rossington struck first. Adetokundo opened the scoring in the 14th minute, putting the visitors ahead against the run of play.
Dinnington Town responded swiftly and decisively.
Just three minutes later, Logan Liggins levelled the contest before Josh Baxter fired the home side into the lead in the 21st minute.
The momentum firmly shifted in Dinnington’s favour, and they extended their advantage as Corey Glaves found the net in the 34th minute.
Logan Liggins then grabbed his second of the evening just before the break, making it 4-1 at half-time.
Dinnington Town continued their ruthless display after the restart, with Brad Kerr adding a quickfire brace in the 50th and 57th minutes to stretch the lead to 6-1.
Rossington briefly reduced the deficit through Noble in the 59th minute, but the hosts hit back instantly. Lewis Twibell restored Dinnington’s five-goal cushion in the 62nd minute before Liam Royles added an eighth in the 78th minute.
Noble grabbed his second of the game late on for Rossington, but it was little more than a consolation as Dinnington ran out comfortable 8-3 winners.
Dinnington Town are next in action on Saturday 15th February, away to Elite AFC in the Black Dragon Premier Division North. Kick-off is at 2:00pm.
