Dinnington Town signed off their league campaign with a narrow 1–2 victory away at Rossington Main Reserves, but results elsewhere confirmed they would miss out on promotion.
Travelling to face Rossington Main FC Reserves in their final fixture, Dinnington Town produced a professional performance to secure all three points, leading 0–2 at the break before seeing out the contest in the second half.
The visitors made a controlled start and took the lead in the 20th minute through Jedidja Mafuta, moving ahead at 0–1.
Dinnington Town continued to apply pressure and extended their advantage on 31 minutes when Joshua Stead added a second, giving them a 0–2 lead heading into half-time.
With a two-goal cushion, Dinnington Town managed the game effectively for long periods after the interval, limiting opportunities for Rossington Main FC Reserves and maintaining their structure.
The hosts did pull a goal back in the 79th minute to reduce the deficit to 1–2, setting up a tense finish. However, Dinnington Town remained composed in the closing stages to see out the victory and secure the win on the road.
Despite the positive result, Dinnington Town’s promotion hopes ultimately fell short, bringing their league campaign to a close.
Attention now turns to the Buckingham Insurance League Cup Final, where Dinnington Town will look to end the season with their second piece of silverware.
