Dinnington Town secured a hard-fought 1–0 victory over Worksop Town Reserves at the Blackout13.com Arena, with Jordan Turner’s second-half strike proving decisive in a tense and often frustrating contest.


The match began in a measured fashion, with both sides probing for openings but struggling to establish any real rhythm in the early exchanges.


Midway through the first half, the game took a significant turn when Worksop Town Reserves were reduced to ten men following an off-the-ball stamp, shifting the momentum in Dinnington Town’s favour.


Dinnington Town looked to capitalise almost immediately and believed they had taken the lead moments later. The ball struck the roof of the net, prompting a pause from players and supporters alike, but the officials waved play on, much to the disbelief of the home side.


Despite their numerical advantage, Dinnington Town were unable to make the breakthrough before the interval, with the visitors holding firm to ensure the sides went in level at 0–0.


Emerging for the second half with renewed intent, Dinnington Town asserted greater control of possession and territory.


Chances began to come more frequently for the hosts, who applied sustained pressure in search of the opening goal.


However, a combination of missed opportunities and resilient defending from Worksop Town Reserves kept the scoreline unchanged.


As the match entered its latter stages, the persistence of Dinnington Town finally told.


Jordan Turner stepped up in the 77th minute to break the deadlock, netting his 99th goal for Dinnington Town and giving the hosts a deserved 1–0 advantage.


Following the breakthrough, Dinnington Town managed the game effectively, limiting any potential response from the visitors and seeing out the closing stages with composure.


The final whistle confirmed a narrow but important victory for Dinnington Town, who were made to work hard for all three points despite their numerical advantage for much of the contest.
