Dinnington Town secured their place in a second cup final of the season with a narrow 1–0 victory over Holbrook Sports in the Buckingham Insurance League Challenge Cup semi-final.
In a tightly contested encounter, both sides struggled to find a breakthrough during the opening period, with the match remaining goalless at the interval.
The first half was characterised by a disciplined approach from both teams, with neither able to gain a decisive advantage.
Dinnington Town emerged after the break with greater intent and were rewarded in the 56th minute when Jay Atkin found the decisive goal to put the hosts 1–0 ahead.
With the advantage in their favour, Dinnington Town managed the remainder of the game effectively, maintaining their shape and limiting opportunities for Holbrook Sports to respond.
As the match progressed, the hosts showed composure and control to see out the result and secure their progression.
The victory confirms Dinnington Town’s place in their second final of the campaign, as they continue an impressive run in cup competitions this season.
As current holders of the Buckingham Insurance League Challenge Cup, Dinnington Town will now look to retain the trophy when they face their final test on Sunday 3rd May at Alfreton Town’s Impact Arena.
Next up, Dinnington Town play Worksop Town Reserves in their final home game of this season on Saturday. Kick-off is at 3:00pm.
