Dinnington Town continued their relentless march in the Black Dragon Premier Division North league with a commanding 3-0 victory away to AFC Phoenix at the Phoenix Sports & Social Club.

On a tricky pitch at Pavilion Lane, the league leaders showed their class and composure to secure another crucial three points, stretching their advantage at the top of the table to seven points with 12 games to go.

From the outset, Dinnington Town adapted well to the unpredictable playing surface, maintaining their focus and sticking to their game plan.

Despite the uneven pitch making passing football a challenge, the visitors controlled proceedings, looking the more composed of the two sides.

It took just 14 minutes for Dinnington Town to find the breakthrough via Will Eades. The early breakthrough settled any nerves and gave the visitors a platform to build on.

AFC Phoenix, to their credit, attempted to find a way back into the game, but the Dinnington Town backline was resolute, snuffing out any threats before they could develop.

As the half progressed, Dinnington Town’s dominance grew, and their pressure paid off just before the break.

In the 42nd minute, Harley Wilson doubled Dinnington’s lead sending the traveling supporters into raptures.

The two-goal cushion at half-time was no less than Dinnington Town deserved.

The second half saw AFC Phoenix attempt to rally, but they struggled to penetrate a well-organised Dinnington Town defence.

The visitors, meanwhile, looked content to manage the game, playing with discipline and waiting for opportunities to strike on the counterattack.

With time ticking away, Dinnington Town added a third to seal the points in the 81st minute. Logan Liggins, who had been a lively all game.

As the final whistle blew, Dinnington Town celebrated a well-earned 3-0 win. On a day when the conditions could have made life difficult, the league leaders once again demonstrated their ability to adapt, dig in, and deliver when it matters most.

Now seven points clear at the top of the table, Dinnington Town’s promotion charge continues to gather momentum.

They’ll look to carry this form into their next league match as they edge closer to achieving their ultimate goal.

Dinnington Town are next in action on Wednesday 22nd January, at home to Kinsley Boys in the Abacus Lighting Floodlit Cup. Kick-off is at 8:00pm.
