Dinnington Town progressed into the next round of the Abacus Lighting Floodlit Cup with a composed and controlled 4–0 victory over Kinsley Boys at the Blackout13.com Arena, in a tie that brought together two sides sitting at the top end of the league table.
With one eye firmly on an important league fixture at the weekend, Dinnington Town made a number of changes to the starting line-up, rotating the squad while still fielding a side capable of competing strongly against high-quality opposition.
Despite the adjustments, the hosts settled quickly and looked assured in possession from the outset.
The breakthrough arrived in the 23rd minute when Will Eades opened the scoring to give Dinnington Town a 1–0 advantage.
That goal allowed the hosts to play with greater freedom, and their control of the contest continued to grow as the half wore on.
Brad Kerr doubled the lead in the 37th minute, sending Dinnington Town into the interval with a deserved 2–0 cushion.
Kinsley Boys attempted to respond after the restart, but Dinnington Town remained disciplined and organised, limiting their opponents’ opportunities and continuing to manage the game with maturity.
Brad Kerr added his second of the evening in the 54th minute to extend the lead to 3–0 and effectively put the tie beyond doubt.
As the match moved into its closing stages, Dinnington Town maintained their tempo and concentration, ensuring there was no way back for the visitors.
Jordan Turner added a fourth in the 85th minute to complete the scoring and underline a professional performance from a rotated side.
The 4–0 victory sees Dinnington Town advance confidently into the next round of the Abacus Lighting Floodlit Cup, while also providing valuable minutes across the squad ahead of the weekend’s league challenge.
Next up, Dinnington Town are away to Rossington Main Reserves on Wednesday 11th February in the cup. Kick-off is at 7:45pm.
