Dinnington Town continued their march at the top of the table with an emphatic 5-2 victory over Glapwell at the Blackout13.com Arena.
The win, their 19th from 20 league games, further cemented their advantage in the title race.
The hosts wasted no time asserting their authority, striking twice inside the opening 25 minutes. Nat Jessop opened the scoring in the 7th minute, capitalising on a quick attacking move to put Dinnington Town ahead.
Mitch Ward then doubled the advantage in the 24th minute, finishing off a well-worked passage of play to give the home side a commanding lead at the break.
Despite their early setbacks, the visitors managed to steady themselves as the first half progressed. Glapwell worked hard to contain Dinnington Town’s attacking threats, ensuring the scoreline remained 2-0 at the break.
However, the home side’s intensity never wavered, and they picked up where they left off after the restart.
Dinnington Town put the game beyond doubt early in the second half.
Will Eades made it 3-0 in the 51st minute, and just three minutes later, Logan Liggins added a fourth, effectively ending any hope of a Glapwell comeback.
While the result was beyond doubt, the game still had late drama in store.
Deep into stoppage time, Glapwell grabbed a consolation goal through Cameron Burgin in the 93rd minute.
Dinnington Town responded immediately, restoring their four-goal cushion in the 97th minute courtesy of an own goal.
But there was still time for Burgin to strike again in the 98th minute, adding a second for the visitors to make it 5-2 at the final whistle.
Dinnington Town’s relentless attacking display once again highlighted their firepower and squad depth, ensuring they maintained their commanding position in the league.
Dinnington Town are next in action on Wednesday 12th February, at home to Rossington Main Reserves in the Black Dragon Premier Division North. Kick-off is at 7:45pm.
