Full Time: Yorkshire Main 3-3 Dinnington Town

Yorkshire Main 3-3 Dinnington Town

Dinnington Town showed grit and resilience to earn a dramatic 3-3 draw away at Yorkshire Main on Saturday, with a late equaliser from Connor Peace rescuing a point in testing conditions.

In a match that ebbed and flowed from the first whistle, Dinnington Town led in the first half through Brad Kerr, only to be pegged back before Yorkshire Main twice went into the lead after that.

And while Yorkshire Main looked the more composed side in the second period, the visitors’ never-say-die attitude proved decisive as Peace struck four minutes from time.

The game kicked off and it was Dinnington Town who struck first — and early. With just six minutes played, Brad Kerr was quickest to react inside the box, firing past the Yorkshire Main goalkeeper to give the visitors the perfect start.

But the lead would be short-lived. Yorkshire Main responded well, making the most of the slippery surface to work their way back into the contest. Their equaliser came midway through the half, and a momentum shift followed as they began to impose themselves more effectively in midfield.

Not long after Yorkshire Main to the lead but Dinnington Town continued to threaten, and on 42 minutes, Kerr was at it again. Latching onto a loose ball at the edge of the area, he kept his composure to slot home his second of the afternoon and draw the match level.

Straight after the break Yorkshire Main went in front again and Dinnington Town then took a while to find their feet.

The second half proved scrappier and it was the home side who adapted better.

To their credit, Dinnington Town didn’t fold. While chances became fewer as time wore on, belief remained — and that belief was rewarded in the 86th minute.

A flowing move down the left opened up space for Connor Peace, who took a touch and buried the equaliser to the delight of the travelling supporters.

It was a hard-fought point and a display that underlined Dinnington Town’s character, even on a day when the performance didn’t quite match the standards set the week before.

Next up for Dinnington Town is an away game at Worksop Town on Tuesday. Kick-off is at 7:45pm.
